Good to see your being picky. I'm like you, I hate the idea of job hoping. I've only had six jobs in my life. If you find a good place then circumstances need to drastically change for it no longer to be a good fit. I hope you find a place to retire from. Good luck.

What's your top ten LTL companies and why. Make a list and that'll tell you who to go for.

I guess I'm too new school then to care about the limited range of those dials on my regional trips. Nothing like commercial free music from the Live-X radio app or streaming YT ghost or urban exploration stories and listening to those as a "books on tape" substitute. I think the last time I listened to AM/FM radio was back in 2009.

Then there are the companies who want a filled out app before they recruiters even talk to you about the job. Pass.

You and I think alike in that regard... :)

I second that... Have been visiting terminals, talking with drivers, checking their trucks in and out, even talking with dispatchers, safety directors, shop foreman, etc...
A couple recruiters were surprised or didn't quite expect me asking about visiting their terminals before even filling out an application... o_O
But if they don't want to give me attention, then I don't need to bother working for them...
And I do take my time checking companies... have a list of 77 questions just over the phone... and then I go visit in person if I am still interested.
Don't fill out applications online so not to waste anybody's time
Asked a company the other day to send me the application in PDF format so that I could read it first.. And on page 5 it said that part of the job was to bring freight to the end of the trailer and I would have to sign that... Well... I was going to call them and ask if I could refuse those loads but after reading the application, I called and dropped them.
Going to visit another terminal next Monday...

I wouldn't even apply where I can't show up, shake the owners hand, and directly give them my resume. If that isn't possible, it wouldn't be a fit for me.

When companies/recruiters lie about important details of the job it is easy to get into a cycle of job hopping. That's why the driver must do enough research into a company before changing jobs. Ask me how I know?

Seems like job hopping is a thing regardless of the industry you're in. Bounce around enough times to the point where you're now hanging out with the bums around the corner, planning the next heist.

Things still seem to be going alright where I'm at though. But could always be better if I took certain steps. Like moving away.
