small 6 truck peterbilt fleet. Currently, all my trucks are 2014 or newer 389’s. However, I recently ran across someone that had a 2011 Peterbilt 389 glider with a c16 motor. The motor has all new parts on it and has only been in the truck 4 months. The transmission is an 18 speed and itneeds replacing. I have an spicer 6x4 sitting in my garage; wanted to know is this too much torque for that tranny? The truck is almost show quality and would only be driven by me twice a week for maybe 1600 miles. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

I'm not the best on tranny's, but I highly doubt it's too much for the 6x4. I mean they pulled tanks with those boxes.
Oldironfan Thanks this. -
They put them behind 3408 cats in the 70s

KB3MMX and Oldironfan Thank this.

As far as I've heard, they don't do well behind modern, high-torque motors. If you put too much into them, they'll shred the box. They aren't rated for more than 1650 from what I've read.
It would be nice if someone could build a modern version of the two-stick transmissions though.KB3MMX and Rubber duck kw Thank this. -
If you are interested in selling the 6x4 to help fund the 18 speed let me know. I am a serious buyer with cash and would purchase immediately.
Thanks
