I am in the same boat. 51 next month, IT corp sales and six figures. Boredom, divorce and a real desire to hit he the road. And in CT, like NY, six figures isn't really what most people think. Good luck to you.

Back to the OP Q. Much like you I'm looking at this industry with much wiser eyes (I don't know as much as when I was 20s+, but I can guarantee I'm much wiser). I would say read a few books, I learned a lot from them. Some I had to pay for, other the liberty had. IMHO 95% of the posters are very helpful, so you can't go wrong reading everything you can around here.

I'm a 51 year old college education IT professional with 10 years of IT experience and have hit the age discrimination wall in the IT field. I have a clean driving record and just finished a CDL class A course with PDTI certification (I also have hazmat, tanker, doubles/triples endorsements) Right now I'm sitting in a motel room to start orientation with a trucking company tomorrow.
