Hi, I’m at my OC with Schneider for my remedial training; I just got through coupling, driving and uncoupling with an instructor watching me like a chicken hawk (made a few mistakes coupling) and after I drove through the city for awhile he had one and a half pages of notes on me; I don’t want to quit, but I can’t help but wonder if I should try driving box trucks or something smaller for this year and try again next year; the only problem is if I try to seek new employment, I only have one month of work experience total (Schneider). Any advice? Best regards, John
You either want to be a class A driver or you dont figure out what you did wrong and figure out how to fix it.
Relax and realize everyday is a learning experience. Your over thinking it but with time it will come more natural. I would at least stay for 3 to 4 months. Also most companies dont report your training as solo driving experience , so if you were with a trainer for a month it's like it never happened.
Don't sweat being bad at backing. We all were at one point and we all have days where we still suck at it. Are you doing a great job? Probably not.....that's why you are learning.....we were all there once. If it's something you really want to do just keep at it and work hard...you will get there.
Sounds like a great trainer as long as he goes over it with you and explains what you did wrong and how to do it right. I would probably cringe if I saw the notes my first trainer took. You don't know what you are doing, you are new, be glad you didn't get a trainer that has you there just for a bump in pay.
Keep at it. No one jumps in a truck and does it perfectly right off the bat. Like everything, it takes practice and more practice. You’ll get it, just be willing to learn from mistakes and keep at it.
