Thanks guys, I'm trying not to let it get to me too much. I've already rescheduled the test. I actually might stay at this company for a while, if I can get enough hours to make the kind of money I'm looking for. I've been working for this company for almost 15 years. It's not a bad company to work for, I just reached apoint where my income had stagnated and I was looking to build on my current income by getting my CDL.

I think someone mentioned wanting to see the intersection. Here's the actual sign:

    Google Maps

And no that's not the EXACT same sign I knocked over. They hadn't reinstalled the solar panel yet.

Small world. I used to live near there over by ellington field. There was a great booby bar I used to go down right down the street. They had $2.99 steak and fries. It was fantastic.

I thought you ran down a sign on a flimsy metal pole. Thats something a little more substantial lol. Youre still fine though.

There's great boobie bars everywhere around here lol...seems a lot have good buffets and cheap steaks too. If you play your cards right, you can get out of there for less than a good restaurant would have costed. Ever been to Michaels on 59 and Hilcroft?

The light's were also missing. It was just a pole and a brand new diamond shaped sign with wires hanging out. They must have just got done putting it back up.

So, if you scroll past the sign and then turn around and look back at it, you'll notice that it's not the same sign on google maps. They must have taken the images at different times after the sign had been replaced.
One is showing yellow lights on it and the other isn't

I have come VERY close a handful of times.

One time was a tiny white sign and there was snow everywhere so i didnt see it.

Another time also snow pilled up in the gutter turning into a parking lot. Turned left, gave it a bit of fuel to clear the snow and not get stuck... Tractor slide to the left when driving up the drive way. Looked in rear view, trailer turning right into sign. Turned hard right and followed trailer in as much as possible. So close.

Another time in Baltimore inner City. Made the turn left, didnt see the car parallel parked to the right, Not enough room to clear light pole. Clogged up intersection for several light rotations. Everyone honking. Lady saw my situation and moved her car... Off I went.

I used to live on FM1959 right off of 45. I forget the name of that joint we used to go to. But man, me and my buddy would get off work and about 2 or 3 days a week we'd hit up that spot and tear it up lol. I also remember a roadside bar on glaveston road that was a total open air joint. Like you just pull into the parking lot, and walk into this garage looking building with ceiling fans and belly up and get a beer lol. I love texas. I need to move back there someday. Plus the women were GREAT. In my experiences, NOTHING beats a texas woman.

I’m not sure that showing on your license is the real issue here. I know you said boss and DPS was cool. But somebody is getting a bill for that sign. They aren’t free.

Dude this happens more often than tou think. As a former CDL examiner in Pennsylvania I havr had three folks hit signs, one took down a telephone pole! My former business partner hit a sign pop ulling out of the test site to start his road test, examiner never noticed and he passed. I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't witness it with my own eyes.

Better the sign than a car or pedestrian but let this be a lesson to watch both sides of the truck and if in doubt stop before you hit something again. This next statement isn't directed at you pwr se, but it grinds my gears when I investigate a crash and the driver says "I saw it as I hit it" or some crap like that. If you s as w it, then why did you hit it.

Hopefully the bill is minimal. I offered to pay for it, but he said it wouldn't be necessary.

The only part of the sign that had damage on it was the bottom part, that is designed to break. It looked like they could just replace that piece of it with another one and bolt it back to the mounting plate on the sidewalk.

I think he was saying "oh ####" because he was looking forward to being able to use me as a driver, but now the cost of insuring me may be prohibitive with an accident on my record.
