A note about those 12v coolers, their design is simplicity in itself. It uses whats called peltier cooling. A peltier is an electronic device with dissimilar material on each side. When a current is run through it one side gets hot while the other side gets cool (this is how the combo heater coolers work, just reverse the polarity to change the hot and cold sides). These devices use the same type of fans found in computers. The peltier itself hardly ever fails, buy the fans by design will fail as they clog with dust. You can buy these fans by the gross online for around $5 each and replace one in 5 mins with a screwdriver and some tape.
In addition to my cooler I have a 300w inverter and a 150w inverter (150w is for charging my beard trimmer and other low wattage items). The 300w is just enough to power my notebook or run my tv, but not both at the same time. I have a water boiler for making ramen, takes 5-10 mins to get water hot. Lunch box cooker, and a small 12v fan. -
Inverters and extra 12V plugs. Now you can cook charge GPS phone headset or other low volt items. As far as making life easy..its all up to the individual. I have GPS crockpot headset and a boiler. No TV but would like to get a notebook/laptop soon.

In no particular order,
1 - 400 watt inverter that runs my laptop (65 watts), my fax, scanner, copier, printer (22 watts), and occasionally some other small item.
2 - CB
3 - Homemade cooling table for my laptop using a desktop computer fan.
4 - XM radio
5 - Coleman 12v cooler
6 - (Brand?) 12v cooler/ heater to keep pop top canned food ready to eat.
7 - Two multi-socket 12v power supply's to run xm, cooler, heater, cooling table, and charge phone & headset all at the same time.
I know. That's more than 5.ChancesRGood Thanks this. -
Koolatron KCR40 fridge.
Tracker lunchbox oven
Fan
Small inverter for charging (note here- if you read the manual it will tell you the max output from a 12v plug is 150 watts. So don't buy based on what it says on the package. The number they put on there is the maximum output using the direct-to-battery clips.) -

lunchbox oven I bring frozen dinner portions and stick them in the oven . By the time I've fuelled, showered and get back to the truck - I have a hot meal waiting.

I have an igloo 12 v cooler and it keeps everything cold. A 400 watt inverter is high on the list as well. One of those 12 v 3 outlet plugs is a good thing to have.

Fridge
GPS
Toaster oven
Phone Charger
TV/DVD player
CB is hardwired into the truck so I don't count that.
