What are your thoughts on becoming a self contained unit from the truck stops. Other then the washroom do we need anything from them?
I find if you have a 1500 or better Inverter you can run your microwave, or any other thing you want.
I also have a small back up Inverter for the phone, TV, Laptop etc.
I also have a very good cooler that works as well as the fridge at home does. I paid $99.00 for it from Walmart. http://www.coleman.com/coleman/colemancom/detail.asp?product_id=5644-710&categoryid=8570&brand=
I keep a lunch box oven with me along with with the kettle. Some have coffee makers, I don't because I use instant and you never know when you may need hot water. What I listed are the basics of trucker life, but what I want to know is how to cook, and I mean cook.
What is the best way to cook without killing yourself with the propane fumes? Also what is the best way to clean up the pan or what ever else you used. Plastic plates, etc go in the trash of course.
My goal is to become totally independent. And it don't matter where I park I have what I need.

As eating in your truck save's alot of $$$$$. Human contact and conversation is also important.Noboy can relie on a CB for talking.People also need (SHOWER'S) I eat out of my truck for breakfast & dinner. For supper i always eat at a truck stop. I save money doing this. but some times if you look at everything you gota do to prepair yourself for eating in your truck and what you gota buy/ carry and the time to make it in your truck eating out every nite seems to cost the same.spuddatruckdriver Thanks this. -

i went through 3 (Coleman) coolers in 2 years. won't ever buy another

Im using the Igloo 40 qt cooler right now. It works well. Once in awhile, you have to take the cover off of the motor area and clean out the dirt and dust. Motor is easy to change out if ever needed.

The top fan on my Coleman croaked after about a year, you can get a replacement fan for a reasonable price at Radio Shack, and that one has run fine for the past 2 years.
-
My biggest pet-peeve is drivers who wash their dishes in the rest-room sinks. Most of them don't bother cleaning the food residue from the sinks when they are done.

I can only imagine what some of these drivers' houses look like...if they HAVE houses, of course.
