I drink a gallon of water a day and lots fruit and veggies, lots of V-8 and usually try for a Subway sandwich daily. I only have a 500 watt inverter for a few weeks, then Im getting a 1500 watt, so I might try a fridge. I use a cooler now for pop and snacks. And keep cookies on hand. I'm new and already know I need to avoid overspending at truckstops.

"My biggest pet-peeve is drivers who wash their dishes in the rest-room sinks. Most of them don't bother cleaning the food residue from the sinks when they are done."
That's a lot better than having those guys with towels on their heads washing their feet in the sinks... I can deal with some beef stew remnants. -
lol, now that is really gross.

Caught a dude (towel on head) sitting on the sink shelf, feet stuck in a sink, washing up... I went nuts, but another driver beat me to it.. big older black guy grabbed the guy up, threw him out of the restroom, talking all the way - funny as hell.
Big Red, Cudascious and trucker_101 Thank this. -
You're not kidding. I can't believe how expensive "fast food" has gotten. Even when I stop in for an occasional McD's or Wendys meal it costs me $10 for crappy food and I'm hungry again just a few hours later. Some of these food marts sell small cups of assorted fruit chunks for $3.49, I think that's crazy!! .49 cents is about what they're worth.

I try to hit a Walmart or Meijer every few days to stock up on suplies and good deli food. You can get all kinds of fresh salads and entrees from the Meijer deli. I am fed up with expensive, crappy truckstop food, especially from most of the T/A's...
Meijer has a very extensive ethnic food section where you can get all kinds of stuff. If you like asian foods for instance, and you have a microwave, you can get all kinds of soup mixes there. Chinese, japanese etc. -
Who said you can kill yourself with propane gas fumes in the truck? I've been using one for almost 2 yrs now, that's the only reliable thing I ever had. No power inverters in this company truck. Tried slow cooker, all 3 burnt after a couple of months
Had small refri (when the truck I was driving had a good power inverter....) Had 3 coolers, were not very cold and all broke after few months too...
So, now I spend some money and buy ice... but at least, food doesn't go bad so quickly and stays really cold. I spend about 1 hr almost everyday cooking in the truck. Don't eat the garbage sold on the road. Last summer I was even washing myself inside the truck, with soap and towel...

if you have an inverter (1500 watts) you can do everything except wash and dry your clothes.Hot pots are great for hot water

I'm still using the one I bought in October of 2008, I make sure i keep the fan area clear of dust and dirt. I think that helps a lot, plus it cools better.
