I never thought I would be interested in obtaining my CLD, but after given the chance to ride across country I loved every minute. I also have a totally larger respect for you all!

I returned from my trip studied and now have my permit. The problem I'm up against now is, all the truck driving schools want full tuiton even though I have my permit. The cost is more than I can afford which is why I haven't already enrolled.

All the drivers I know work for other companies so they are out.

    Does anyone have any ideas?

Prime, Swift, CRE. Those are options. Do your homework. Make the choice that's best for you. There are other, similar programs. Also, it would be helpful if you let us know where you are at. There are black out zones for hiring areas.

Depending on your state, there may be federal money available to pay your tution to a local school. If you're unemployed, check with your unemployment office. Refer to the Displaced Workers Act.
Check out the community colleges. They're much cheaper and just as good.
Lastly, if you have no other recourse, check out the companies that provide schooling. You will be required to work for them for a specified period, and they will forgive a part or all of the school costs.
In addition to the companies listed by Dragon, Stevens is another option.

North Carolina has programs thru there community colleges, look into grant money or financial aid. Find a training company such as Prime, CR England, Knight or Swift to name a few. The forum is full of discussions as to which is better or worse. Read and call all of them and then make your decision. I will say it's a totally different world when you actually drive and are responsible for the freight and truck than just being a passenger. Good Luck and Merry Christmas..
