I will tell you guys like this........ I used to work for TQL. I started out as a freight broker in this industry in 2003 and TQL was no more than 30 employees. We were very ethical, I can speak for myself and say that I was anyway. From what I gathered, the guys around me were all very ethical as well. TQL is a business within a business. There are now probably 1500, close to 2000 employees at TQL. There are so many employees that it is hard for the new blood to find any business that somebody hasn't called on already. These guys sit in cubicles and call companys all day trying to get new business. Then they usually come in and underbid everyone else just to try and get the freight. Then when there is an issue and a load may not be ready or cancels the brokers at TQL don't want to pay a TONU because they cannot afford to. They are working at 25% profits on extremely low margins, especially with the newer employees. I now work for a trucking company and brokerage and we get calls from TQL all day long. These guys are right out of college and don't have the first clue as to how this business works. They don't know about toll roads, and driver logs or fuel prices. The only thing that they have their eyes on is that 25% commission that they get week in and week out. You ever notice when TQL posts a load that it is posted the same way within 150 miles of the origin that it is actually supposed to load in? If it is a load out of Cincinnati going to NYC it is posted from Columbus, Indianapolis, Louisville and everywhere in between so people will call them. They are trained this way. "What Kind of rate would you need on that?" The oldest TQL line in the game. We quote them $4/mile when they ask us that. Those guys are making a pile of money, don't be fooled.

Ok get this. Today I got a FAX from TQL saying I owe them $150.00 because 2 months ago a shipment I delivered was about an hour late. Yes it was about 1 to 1.5 hours late, but after 2 months they want me to pay the $150.00 on a $500.00 load.

I'll add more to this story on another post later when I have time.

I'd just tell them that their dispatcher never called in, and so, although we do have a rate confirmation, what we don't have is a dispatched, dispatcher order, on that $150 DOELD, (dispatcher ordered-extra load deduction), so unfortunately without that, we simply cannot pay you.....

Just add $500 to their next quote and take it out of that.

Or if you want to burn a bridge, take a picture of $150 cash and return that by fax with a note saying it's ready for pickup.

Yeah then when they ask where to pick it up, give them a list of 9 different cities, and tell them they get 3 guesses ....
