Just a newbie question I thought about as I was driving up to Toledo. When you are going around bends/curves in the road in a semi-, wouldn't you set the tractor steers on the "outside" of the curve so that the tandems remain on the road (due to off tracking)?

I always remembered to just keep the truck towards the top of the curve. Curve to the left you will stay towards the right and curve to the right you will hug the left.

yup..........

Exactly. They actually teach you that in the truck. One of my instructors actually harps it pretty hard in the truck.

To answer your question yes. But on most highways and interstates, the curves and bends in the road are not so pronounced that you have to stay "way left or right" to keep the trailer in your lane

Rockee,
What you state is true, with the exception of some of the exit and entrance ramps -

Anybody go over Hoover Dam NV before they built the by-pass? You had to go into the other lane to make that turn and you just hoped you didn't meet another truck. I could barely keep the truck in my lane and that was with a truck and trailer. A semi had no hope. On the interstates I never had a problem except for some on or off ramps.
