I have fewer hassles from [and worries about] CMV cops today than I did in the 80's and 90's. So, I guess it just depends on your circumstances and who's name and DOT number is on the side of your truck

 

The reason Elogs are now a requirement are because of you than ran multiple logs.

After that national carriers truck wrecked into the parked trucks, the parked trucks got a ticket for being illegally parked

I see it already. People are going to blame ELD, for everything. It's the mandortory 30 min break, that's causing the parking problems.

 

What's the chances of falling asleep right at the rest area ramp?
These guys that park stupid should expect this.
My load is not worth dying for.
I've never parked on a ramp or other area that isn't designed for parking.
These idiots will learn eventually.

 

I won’t even park in a rest area where the truck parking is near the highway. I went past one a couple weeks ago on I-57 in Illinois. A huge tree was knocked over, truck tracks through the mud into the parking area and a big burned spot. Must have been an eye opener for anyone who was sleeping there.

 

I saw that one as well and pondered what the "pucker effect" must have been for those parked at the rest area when it happened. Thankfully there were huge trees that kept it from plowing on into the parking area.

 

To me this accident strikes me as some one whom is runnning an illegall log book. Driving tired with not enough sleep.
