Not so, everyone can have an opinion.

To me it looks as if the truck drive messed up, yet those that disagree with me have the right to do so.
Illegal u-turn puts him at fault.

I recall one morning many years ago in LA I missed my turn, I had to drive about 4 miles before I found a safe place to turn around, I did not dare make an illegal u-turn because of obvious reasons.

First of all, don't get all worked up on me, because I thought the mother was the one driving. I did not know that Shaqwan was a male name. People today want to name their kids something like the name of a Star Wars Character, that's not my fault. I don't care if the driver was male or female. The truck made an illegal turn, but the SUV should have had time to at least try to avoid the collision. Your theory about the SUV being next to the truck when he turned is poorly thought out. That is not what happened, which is clearly evident by the crash wreckage. If the truck was moving at the time of impact, the truck would have some front-to-rear damage. The path of the SUV is the only area of the trailer damaged, so the truck was not moving when the impact occurred.

I don't care if it is a woman doing Make-up, or a guy Texting, but I see drivers every single day in that exact area blasting past me at 70 in a 45 or 55 zone, wandering all over the road, while I see them holding a phone on their steering wheel. I see it every day. People are so stupid, they actually need to make a law about not texting while driving. HAVE YOU NEVER SEEN THIS? I would find that hard to believe.

I am very sad at any loss of life, no matter who was at fault. I just would reserve my opinions on the accident till after I heard if the SUV driver's phone records show he was texting just before impact, or if he was talking without a hands-free device. Also, I would like to know if the SUV's black box, which they all have now, shows the brakes being applied, and for how long, before the impact. What was the SUV's speed 30 seconds before the impact? I don't know any of these questions, but will not blame the truck driver 100% till I do know.

Either way, the driver was very stupid for making the turn he did. I am sure he did not intend to kill anyone. If the man driving the SUV did anything to contribute to the accident, I am sure he did not do so, thinking anyone in his vehicle would be hurt. If the truck driver didn't do what he did, nobody gets hurt. If the SUV driver saw the truck turning, and stopped, nobody gets hurt. Sometimes a little blame is deserved by both sides of a collision, that is all I meant.

Now Iron your man's shirt, then get back in the kitchen, and fix his dinner. Grab him a beer while you are at it.

i didn't mean it for you personally truckntech, it's just that i was watching the news friday night with my husband, saw that report and the video of the accident scene and got really pissed that another t/t driver did something stupid. this just adds validity to the reputation that the public has of us.
not only have i seen it, but i've also seen truck drivers do it too. we all have.

i do want you to know that my posting judgment was clouded, i know that there are always two sides to any situation. i too want to see how fast he was going when he hit the trailer. ;)

btw.... how did you know i was pregnant? :) and where did you put my shoes? :biggrin_25514:

Thanks Vavega, for understanding where I was coming from. Believe me, I see plenty of truck drivers driving like idiots these days too. Maybe in this case, the driver deserves the jail time he is going to get. I just hate it when the trucker is the easiest one to blame 100%, when maybe the other vehicle had some share of the blame.

I just do not understand if he was doing a u'y, how the tractor got the trailer over what basically looks like the tandem, unless the suv pushed the trailer from the momentum.
