It seems anytime there is a lot of traffic backed up there is one truck that consistently leaves 100 feet or so between him and the truck in front. Even when everyone stops they stop instead of pulling forward right behind the next guy. Whats the reason there? I could understand doing that so you could just roll forward and stay off the clutch but thats not what they do since they stop along with everyone else. Seelms like it would jist piss a lot of 4 wheelers off and theyd wanna cut you off.

The ones that leave space are the ones with some common sense, what's the point in getting right on someone's bumper so you have to constantly slam on breaks every time it comes to a stop again. Who cares if it pisses off the 4 wheelers..

Well i can be following someone and not ever get close to slamming on my brakes. Maybe i didnt explain my question well enough. I just dont understand why you would come to a complete stop with 100 to 200 feet between you and the next guy.....especially when half the time a bunch of cars just jump in there and push you back...

If it's just a regular traffic jam with no construction closures, I'll just try to find a gear that I can idle in to keep a consistant speed of 2 or 3 mph so it's not a constant annoying stop and go. -
Mr Ed Thanks this.

Generally I leave that gap for four wheelers to get in, theyre gonna cut on any way, so why not reduce the hazzard to them and yourself, and just antcipateit happening, I have also found leaving a gap like that when the road goes down to one lane at least keeps traffic moving
