Any Apps, websites, etc out there that will send you a text alert to avoid major traffic jams?

My android does it automatically. It's kind of funny. I will be stopped on 95 in southern CT (it happens in many places but I will use CT as an example) and my phone will alert me to " heavy traffic on I-95" it never does it ahead of time always when I am doing about 5-10 mph on the highway LOL. I didn't download any app Google just does it automatically

Before you decide to play with your phone while going down the road reading these texts, you might want to have a look at Table 2 to § 383.51...specifically #(9).

I recommend Google Maps app (with "traffic" turned on). Check along your route before key junction points (such as before loops) and where back-ups occur frequently and every hour or so on the open road (crap happens in all sorts of places). Text alerts are fine, except they're not aware of your planned route and inform you of traffic issues that sometimes do not concern you, also they can't account for truck legal options when applicable.

Traffic that hits traffic enabled GPS's is often not terribly reliable and/or is outdated. Google uses data from cellular phone users speed/direction that is anonymously reported so it is valid in areas where traffic sensor hardware is not available (that INREX relies on)

There's one in every crowd. I drive with my "girlfriend/secretary" so leave me alone. And if you've ever changed the radio station or unwrapped a Subway sandwich while driving, you don't need to be lecturing us about looking at a phone.

    stabob Thanks this.
