Ive noticed the V-shaped 'gap guards' becoming increasingly popular on trailers. Anyone have an experience with these? What's the increase in fuel economy SUPPOSED to be with these?

Thats a California thing. Its supposed to help with fuel mileage. Its just another thing for a company to spend money on instead of better pay for their drivers. I have already torn one up just driving off of a Cat scale platform..

I seen some on trucks in my area seem to be more and more here lately going along I-40. I think they are more of a saftey hazzard my self if a big rig runs over debree in his lane and it goe under the trailer and knocks that plastic off or part of it. i can see a major wrck happen because of it maybe even killing some one on a motor cycle if they were next to the trailer and a piece flys off. I don't see how it would improive MPG as an object that has the arrrow dynamics of a brick will get porr gas mileage not matter how you try to make it more arrow dynamic.

I can see how it pushes air around the trailer instead of under it, but is there really air drag under those trailers? Seems it would flow over the tandems and out.

According to our fuel manager, they are suppose to add 0.5 mpg. Like everything, they are just another thing to get tore up.

They've got something like that for the back of the tlrs now. Think Mesilla valley is trying them out.

Add Walmart to the list too. I would think other companies would be doing it as well.

I saw one yesterday going through Greenville, SC looks like more of a pain for drivers, as if 53' of trailer isn,t enough..
