Trailer brakes locking up even with a slight brake application

    I was experiencing that with a dry van , what do you have for a tractor? It was a valve up on the firewall That caused it,

    Maybe tee a pressure gauge into the service line to the chambers. One on the truck and
    What are XEM shoes?

    Check to be sure it has the correct drums also. We have had some that the pilot hole in the drum was to large for the hub. That caused the drums to be off center and cause the problem you describe.

    XEM is Freuhauf style I believe, 4515XEM.

    Not sure about the friction material, but the manufacturer said trailer needs 4707 Q Plus shoes.

    Do you know what valve they replaced? The only valve that is mounted to the firewall on my truck is the throttle valve.
