trailer choice

    what trailer would be best for hot shot? ive looked at several, an im leaning towards the
    big tex 40ft 22 gn.

    Personally I'd go with a lo pro 25GN with a 5ft dove and a center pop up. However you may run into problems loading some cars when it comes to having the center pop up instead of 3 flip over ramps. 8ft ramps will kill you on cars because of the loading angle and they're heavy to get out set up and then put away. Big tex and PJ are the biggest competitors and I'd actually recommend paying the extra and buying a PJ. You can actually get more options in the PJ and if it's something you plan on doing for a long time pay the extra and sec the trailer out right. If I were to buy another gooseneck (have one gator not bad but probably made a mistake when I bought it) I'd purchase a 40+5 (53 overall) PJ with monster ramps, get a cold weather harness (invaluble even in NE where it only gets down to negs once a year), 30k gvwr, 15k axles w/air suspension and a front lift, 2 speed jacks (stay away from hydros you'll lose tool box space), winch plate (you may need to winch a car on), and winch track with sliding winches, and get the rear support legs and drop them every time you have to load a car to keep the main beams from flexing, the only thing that can really go wrong with a trailer and total it is if the main beams crack and then you might as well cut the trailer up, sell the axles, coupler, jacks, etc and sell the iron. Yea that's about a 25k or 30k trailer when it comes to price but you want a trailer that'll last a life time. Also that gives you 45ft of deck space, and weight should be around 10-12K so you'll have roughly 28k of payload. That's what I'd do also sheffield financial should give you 6 months no payments no interest so you can pay down a good chunck of the loan in that 6 months so you won't have interest collecting on 30k worth of trailer. It'll take a while to build but that's what I'd buy if I could do it all over again.

    40 footer anything less and you'll have trouble getting loaded. dovetail won't load cars as the back end drags due to angle.
    If you want to fool with cars get a wedge or a ez loader. LTL freight isn't worth the bother in most cases get a good paying load going out and bounce back empty
    if need be.

    well i went with the big tex 40ft 22gn. i dont want to haul to heavy with a 1 ton, so i believe
    it should do the job.

  9. I bought a Big-Tex 35+5 with mega ramps. With the ramps folded up I have 40ft of deck space. Being versatile in this industry is key. Being able to load a couple sprinter vans,SUV's or just a couple of cars so that you don't return empty is key. Something else I did was purchase a 5th Wheel hitch. I haven't pulled a camper yet, but did just take a call on one yesterday to take to Cumberland Kentucky. Pick what best suits your needs, but also keep in mind to think about other money making opportunities that are out there as well. Good luck to you! FullSizeRender.jpg
