I am having an electrical problem that is literally keeping me awake tonight. I have a second 4 wire plug on my wagon to power 2 dump valves, strobes, and backup lights. if i unplug the 7 way, all the things on the other plug stop working. shouldn't they ground thru the 5th wheel? also, none of my extra stuff works at all if i turn on the trailer lights. not exactly sure where to start looking next. trailer is an 09 utility truck is 06 intl 9900

Before you go tearing things apart, run a ground wire from the truck to the trailer first. Sometimes the 5th wheel will lose its ground to the trailer if you have a slickdisc or a lose 5th wheel.

The top pin on your 7 plug should be the ground. It could've broke on either side truck/trailer.

Just as Les2 said..... you have a ground problem? Dont count on fifth wheel for a ground. After saying that.... i also run a ground strap from the fifth wheel down to frame, just to make one more path. Ground is just as important(or even more so) as the "hot" wire.

ran a jumper to frame, all works right. def doesn't ground enough. i'm sure it has to do with the wiring at the rear that was "repaired". ordered a new harness, but won't have it for a week, trying to keep things working. right now all that is really screwed is the strobes and dump valves.
