The point being, spend the 20 dollars for each oil bath and replace them.. Or if you're a company driver write it up to the shop if they are leaking and refuse to pull the trailer until it is fixed..

    OR

Dont do anything and lose all your oil, catch your trailer on fire when the bearing fails

Get written up for violations from dot..

They take 5 minutes to change out.

No………. That absolutely nothing to be concerned about, just wipe it off.

I had one where a forklift ran into the hub with the tire, broke the brittle window off. Had gear lube all over the rim(setting at the bottom). I found a piece one sided wax thin cardboard, cut it to fit over the window, had some ether(starting fluid) in the cab, cleaned it all up, put the piece of cardboard on, “Gorilla” tape it(a must to keep), wipe of all the excess gear lube and was in my way. No leaks for the next 100 miles. Crossed one set of scales and nothing was said.

Side note; hub must be completely clean or the duct tape won’t stick. WD-40 will clean but leaves a oily film.

Just sharing incase anyone runs into a similar situation.
