As the title indicates, there was a franchise TA at Albert Lea, MN that now has a new sign up as a Petro and will be changing the Trails Restaurant to what I'm guessing will be an Iron Skillet, probably, and someone has said they will be using a wood fired grill.

That truck stop does reserve parking, but since I'm regional, I have no need to park there. I just stop to use the scale, mostly. They also have the new IdleAir going.

Idleair has been working.g since Aug. Everytime I stopped in someone was pedaling it anyway.

Anyone remember the old 76 truckstop chain? I wonder who will be the next big chain to grow up after the current big ones die out. They may seem "too big to fail", but they will eventually.

I would guess a full circle kinda of deal where you see more independents popping back up. Pilot and T/A are so big now because of the fuel discount to mega carriers. If they start to drop off you can see independents coming back into play. Also Speedway/Marathon are starting to reopen/add truck parking to stores again.

Well, too bad if they are changing the restaurant around. That was a good little place to eat. Iron Skillets are okay but I like the truck stops that have a privately owned restaurant.

TA/Petro, has been going around the country, and ending the franchise agreements. It happpend at the TA in Morris, but they left that resutrant alone, becuse they realized how huge the locals customer base is.
Sorry to see the Trails GO AWAY

I've run to MN probably fewer than six times over my driving career, but I was there two weeks ago and stopped at the Trails for the first time ever. Heck, it was just nice to walk into a place and actually have to look for the restrooms because it was a little different!

Nice parking, easy access. Good stop.
