This happened about 45 mins from where I live... I have driven over that railroad crossing thousands of time both in a rig and my personal vehicle. No reason he shouldnt have seen the train, very good visibility down the tracks.

Train hits semi in eastern Idaho, pushes it 1,300 feet

You ever had people run up behind you to pass only to slow down right next and start flashing thier lights? Only to see they end up taking the next left turn?

Idaho, Oregon, and Oklahoma has this problem. Maybe the truck driver was distracted for no good reason.

AD608AD7-02B5-404A-AC50-930EC489E56C.png Amtrak nailed this one 5 miles from my place about 25 minutes after I passed by there yesterday morning. Somebody gave the local news some video he took of it. Broke trailer off and rear drive axle and end of frame rails completely off tractor and spun tractor around 360 and almost landed in exact same spot it got stuck in. Looked crazy like it just lifted up in place, spun air born and set back down in place. They finally got the crossing fixed and back open around 9:30 last night.

I was going to say. That's a good configuration to have against collisions. Although it plays havoc with forward visibility. In Cab signalling might be helpful here.

The locomotive is running in reverse. Normally the outhouse is on the front of the locomotive.
As to the truck on the tracks? I can only wonder if the driver was day dreaming and just wasnt paying attention.

    Dave_in_AZ and D.Tibbitt Thank this.
