Are there any trucking companies that have a "train your partner" program, allows pets, and allows riders? I can't seem to find all 3 at the same company.

Yes, there are many of them. Central refrigerated is one.
The companies that allow you to train your partner will first want you to drive for them for at least 90 days prior to any training. Some companies a little longer. So if you are looking to train your spouse you will have to first do your schooling, if you don't already have your license then get hired on with the company of your choice, attend orientation and then go out with a trainer for a couple months. Usually after about three months of being on your own they will let you train your spouse/partner after they attend school and orientation. There is also the option of both of you being trained at the same time. Central did this for my wife and I and I know for sure Covenant also does two person training.
You may run into some problems though if you are a new driver. Some companies want you to drive for 6-9 months before they will certify you to be a trainer.
Surely you will not be able to take your pet during orientation and training. You will have to complete all your training and upgrade to your own truck before they will let you take your pet with you. Most companies that allow pets will also make you pay a pet deposit. Sometimes this is costly.
If you are looking for companies that allow riders, most usually do. Though most only allow riders during summer months and they also have age restrictions. Younger children are not allowed to ride along. The age is usually 12 and up or so. Again just like having a pet, they are going to make you pay a fee. The fee is actually insurance for your rider.
Take the time to do your home work and I'm sure you will find many other companies that will suit your needs. Think outside the box and stay away from the top 5 mega-carriers and you will be just fine.
Good luck.... -
Could you list those 5 please ? -

I can't seem to find any numbers on fleet sizes that I can rely on. Some day Swift is way up there and I wouldn't doubt if they were very close to the top. I believe Schneider has a very large fleet as well
It's kind of scary that a law firm keeps revenue numbers for trucking companies on their website...just baiting people to sue over anything.VULTURES!!!Last edited: Dec 7, 2012
