New100% agree with you. I went to the cheapest school I could find. Only just enough teaching to pass the road test. Got a job out of Winnipeg. 1st day in the Morning did orientation, afternoon, went with a guy to do a couple local pick ups...then next day got my own truck assign n got sent to South Carolina.
1.5 years van, had a year off, 1.5 years flat bed, now doing multi axle heavy haul for close to 2 years. All with pretty much no training. Only shown how to split a neck...then on my way.

Training is overrated. I seriously can't believe ppl are willing to train with someone for weeks. First company to offer me a job said it would 3 weeks with a trainer...I declined.

On one hand I say suck it up - it's 12 days. Deal with it.
On the other hand, no way I would EVER be in a truck like that. Rain or shine, snow or sleet....my Pete is always SPOTLESS. There's no excuse for it being THAT bad.

It's twelve days on the road AFTER two weeks of classroom/hands-on training. Total of 4.5 weeks (+/-) before I get my own truck.

I've lived in worse conditions for longer. I don't have Chinese rockets or bullets flying my way so I'm good. Just wanted to vent.

Eight days to go! Thanks for all the great advice and support.

    Kyle G., Lepton1 and G13Tomcat Thank this.

Wait until you run into the novelty laser keyrings in the midwest.

First one I ran into searched my head = weapon, I positioned the loaded drives to take the car out. As in take them OUT. They screamed.. just teasing.... so saved themselves...

This is the exact conversation I had with my wife yesterday. I'm learning a lot by how NOT to do things.

Related to bulk, the dust is not THAT overwhelming. They discovered I had a touch of Lime powder problems that got into my lungs so fitted me with a gas mask for that product. Otherwise it's cement all day long.

MRI years later showed concentrations of the stuff inside of me. The doctor would not understand why Im still moving air as well as I was until I explained my history to him.
