    And there it is.

Just too darn volatile on so many levels.

Obviously, there was a lawyer in someone's family. That kinda suit would cost way too much any other way :)

as mentioned previously equal opportunity is a law.. tlhere can't be any discrimination.. however, a valid reason such as a significant other will give one an exit.. each state may be word it a little different but its basically the same.

Its actually illegal for a company to limit female students to female trainers just look up the discrimination lawsuit that prime lost a while back

Swift uses both male and female trainers, you can ask for either or both. Smoking or Non is also a consideration. You will wait longer for a female trainer the odds are not in your favor. Are they the best? Some are great some are horrible, look for a company who will let you change out your trainer if they aren't teaching you successfully.

Some men won't train women, one lie and their career is over. But the awkwardness among the sexes goes beyond training in the trucking industry. Just because a guy opens a door for you and says good morning doesn't mean that they are hitting on you. Or when women do talk to you they want you to do their job, because they don't know how. These are generalizations but social norms get skewed in the trucking environment.

THANK you for your balanced input. Way I see it a beginner is a BEGINNER, regardless of species... Training one would be a big effort and risk regardless of species. Adding drama to an already difficult task would seem unthinkable, but I guess it happens. It does sound to me like some efforts are being made to minimize it.
    Thanks again

I trained a female back in the 80's. She divorced her hubby and married me. (i'm serious) Anyway, trainers/trainees are a total crapshoot. Just be flexible. It's not a marriage. It's a few weeks of "togetherness". Just know that your trainer might only have 6 months of trucking under her/his belt.

AVOIDING that is my primary object here :)

Would be good to know what to expect, what questions to ask, what to object to.

Sounds like need to ask recruiter - how much experience do your trainers have?
