Finally starting out 12/3 with all learner permit endorsements already passed (General, Air, Combo, Double/Triple, Tanker), except for Haz-Mat. Wondering if any trainers are pre-scouting any potential trainees. More than willing to give personal background/situation and phone # in a PM. Making a complete move, so off time location & holidays will not be an issue for me. I am completely breaking from what was home, and all in at this point.
My biggest concern right now is getting the unlikely short straw on bad trainer. That, and learning to drive in winter! So, I figured I'd put out an advanced feeler here. But, I am sure I can deal with whatever turns out due to the awesome info all the trainers and drivers have provided in different threads. I know I don't post much, but I'm more of a reader/researcher rather than one to just banter online. Maybe I can change that with leaving now to hopefully benefit those whom consider following. No promises there, though This has been one long culmination of over a year of research into a job I have wanted all my life. I have had experience in past with industry, so I am fully aware of what I'm getting into. But. also realize that has been said countless times before by those whom it did not work out.
Finally, a HUGE thank you to the trainers and drivers of Prime for all their posts. (Also the actual drivers I have met in person). You all will probably never realize how much you have helped me, even just the banter posts. Keep doing what your doing here.
Thank You All,
FMJ

Looks like I'll be needing a trainer a month or so after you... Not trying to hijack this thread or anything. I'm also a bit concerned about getting bad trainer, so if there's an opportunity to chat with one beforehand, I'd much rather go that route.
Also, I'm a pretty good cook.FullMetalJacket Thanks this. -
Well, I'm guessing by now there is little interest in my post. Just wanted to see if any trainers here might have possibly wanted to check out someone coming ahead of time. It's all good, and I have been provided enough info here & elsewhere to be confident enough about what's to come. No big deal. Going to be leaving next Tues (Thanksgiving holiday), so will probably have next to no internet availability from there on out.
Will be leaving Richmond next Tuesday to journey to Tulsa to put my possessions in storage for duration. Priority is on training and becoming an actual driver at Prime. Will decide afterwards as to whether I will locate to Tulsa or somewhere else, if everything works out. Location and family ties are not a consideration at this point, if that helps at all. I am truly going Gypsy and into the life.
Again, thanks for all the trainer, driver, & trainee posts (and actual Prime drivers I have met in person). All have helped a lot. Here's to hopefully being successful with Prime.
Almost forgot, A big THANK YOU to "Truckers Report". You have been absolutely great in a lot of research I have needed. Definitely not all encompassing, but instrumental nonetheless. Could not pass by thanking you for what you do provide here. You guy's ( & gals) absolutely rock! Keep doing what your doing. It definitely makes a difference.
Peace,

Good luck to you, n3ss. I hope all works out well for you, also.

Ah, good cook eh? Too bad trainees couldn't band together for training!
Actually, don't think your cooking skills are going to translate to lifestyle unless you are more well versed towards camping. Even then, probably not very practical. Whole different aspect were talking about here. At best, hope your into slow cookers (or microwaves). Probably the only thing your going to see as far as cooking ware, if even that. This is coming from a very versatile, professionally trained gourmand. Take it for what you will.....
Good Luck
&
Peace Bro!

I can make some magic happen with a slow cooker, a microwave (fer steamed veggies), and maybe a butane stove.

Good luck to you

Just getting last of things together before move. Wish you the best, though....n3ss
Don't know for sure if I will be able, but will try to post my early experience. Sure it won't be much different from some others that have posted here, but will try to find the time if able. Not to good with that kind of thing, but I guess we'll see how that goes. Priorities will not be on that, though.
Good luck to you, regardless!Last edited: Nov 22, 2013

FMJ, you served, I presume?
Or are you just an Ermie fan?
Or a CoD nerd?
These are important questions.
-
Hey Bones,
1. No, never privileged to serve.
2. Name is CB handle bestowed on me many years ago by two detective friends because of my long history/interest in firearms. They felt it better fit me than what I was using. I guess I am an Ernie fan, though. Hell of a movie.
3. CoD nerd? Not sure what you mean? If compulsive obsessive disorder... hell no! If Company Driver nerd... guess I'm about to find out!

Good enough answers.
