CB and radio are privileges you will have when you are in your own truck, they are NOT part of training. Period. If you are hauling gravel and need to use it to talk to a loader/scale that is different. Also do as you trainer says, if it is illegal or you do not like it ask for a new trainer. Most companies will not have a problem with it.
I wouldn't have a problem with that as a trainee. I'd just accept it as part of my training and paying my dues. You have to earn respect.
I don't have a problem paying my dues, or earning respect. But I don't think listening to my desired music or using a cb for communication purposes demands respect ? I agree with most of the other things mentioned.
i never needed to touch the cb in training or since oh excuse me some shippers call u on it after your loaded but i am usually asleep and the shag driver beats on the door
In the three weeks I spent with a trainer I remember the CB being turned on twice, once at a shipper and once when a KLLM truck decided he wanted my lane and I was still in it! As a student you are not only a "guest" but also a trainee and do not need anymore distractions like the cb. Shut up, listen up. and drive! Your going to find that driving in a strange city looking for an address while watching out for all the local morons is tough enough to do WITHOUT THE CRAP ON THE CB!! I love teaching, but NO WAY would I ever be a driver trainer!
As new TRAINEE its best to limit the DISTRACTIONS such as CB , CELL , IPOD , IPAD , TEXTING , your there to learn TRUCK DRIVING. And for heavens sake DO NOT keep asking if & when you can bring along FIDO or FLUFFY , animals are a big distraction when your starting out.
I did see a pygme (sp) goat in the TA lot when I was still wrenching. And way more than one crazy cat lady.
when i trained, you could listen to either the radio,or the cb.no talking on the cb.no heavy rap, metal,or punk pick 1 station and leave it on.it had nothing to do with earning respect.it had to do with distractions, and lack of experiance
