I am just wondering if all trainers are out there just to fatten their pockets. I dont mind working, and I got into trucking because I enjoy driving. But, to me, when your always in such a rush to get the next load, you tend to forget that we dont need you to tell us everything to do. We need you to let us try and learn and have you there for guidance. And for 350 a week I get real tired of being treated like a personal assistant.
I dont know if I am missing something or not, but I do know in my third week on the road I have not completed one single back without a head being in the way of my mirror, or being directed the entire way. I understand that you do not want me to hit anything with your truck, but let me at least attempt the back without input unless you need to stop me.
Point being if any other trainers are like this then you need to release your head from your fourth point of contact, slow down, and ensure that your trainee is receiving the proper training.
Thanks for letting me vent!!!

its ok to vent its not always up to us weather and when or how we get our next load and when it picks up or delivers thats all on the planners they know we are trainers and need that 1 on 1 time but... its just not all about the trainers theres a much broader picture to the spectrum to view and not just 1 aspect.
myself i dont train for the money i do it 1 to have someone that shares a common interest and is still positive about the industry, 2 to help someone try and attain their goal of becoming a truck driver and build self worth.... right now i have a whole different can of worms goin on im trainin my wife and i dont get paid extra for that... but there are a ton of reasons she is turning to truck driving and has found its not as easy as she thought it was goin to be but i encourage -
Most of the bottom feeder outfit trainers I have personally encountered do seem to be in it for the money. Everybody wants to to run trainer/trainee trucks like experienced teams, which is a problem as far as I'm concerned. There are massive and minor differences between solo and team driving, and I don't believe that solos should be trained to drive in a team environment. It doesn't allow the new solo to learn about time management, among other things. Plus, the trainee should do, or at least attempt all the backing. Not always possible in today's environment, I know. But experience is the best teacher. I've had to train one or two trainers (sad, I know), and I am always depressed with the quality of training I've recieved from various outfits, and what I saw every day on the road. Trainers should be trained themselves to instruct their trainees in safe, proper driving habits, and paid accordingly better so they don't feel the need to push the trainee before the trainee is ready. Companies should be a little more concerned with the quality of their drivers, and not push their trainer/trainee trucks to run like experienced teams. and politicians should be honest, dragons and virgins should exist, and we should all live in a shiny happy world for the rest of our days.

A rant here may let off a little steam, but it won't solve your problems. Can you ask for another trainer if you think your current one isn't doing his job?
Please understand that training is sold as a way for drivers to make more money. When you complete your training, maybe you too will be, from time to time, in a rush. It happens to all of us.
Focus on that day three weeks from now when you'll get into your own truck. That's your goal. BOL.
