If I go with Prime, I would want to eventually be a trainer. How much more pay does a trainer make?
Also, spoke with a recruiter today. She told me that drivers are getting an average of 2500 miles/week. How accurate is that?
Thanks!
Training and driving mileage....

I can't really speak for other drivers, but for me that is about right. Trainer pay is based on what type of trainer you are going to be. PSD trainers, these are the trainers that take a new student out and train him to get his CDL, these guys get an additional 300.00 per week while the trainee is on the truck. TNT trainers I believe just get the extra miles paid to them. This is for a company trainer and not a lease trainer.

most large companies will tell you 2500 is average...i can only tell you that in my experience ive rarely if ever gotten or accepted that few miles in a week. i tell my fm up front im here to run...if im gonna be away from my family, i figure it ought to be worth it financially. if it looks like im having a week that will be less than 2800 miles im not a happy camper, and i politely but firmly share this with my fm. i also show up on time for every delivery and pickup (or tell them why thats not possible, ie breakdown, weather, etc), am professional in all my dealings with my fm...i give him/her every reason to want me to be happy.

I averaged 2800+ solo dispatched miles per week (loaded and empty) over the 2 years I kept track of it on the company side - that includes during the great economic hiccup of '08/'09. My average on the lease side (again solo) is 2365 over the last 129 weeks - which hasn't decreased my gross revenue at all. We're paid percentage, fuel surcharge and accessorial payments, not mileage.
Chessguy... I'd use the 2500 mile figure for planning purposes. They're probably low-balling it a bit. -
Check out this link at PRIME's website. It has more information that hopefully the current PRIME trainers here could weigh in on to let us know if this is atypical or not possibly of their personal experience as far as compensation being a trainer.
