My son left with his trainer 1/6/2011 and is in cali right now;thinks he may be home some time in late febuary. He is having a blast seeing the country, calls home every other day.He misses his dog more than his GF lol.Plan on being gone longer than they tell you, they need a truck to put you on when you test out.Good luck!

No complaints, got a great trainer(6 years of experience training for Werner)they get along great. The only issue was he had no shower for 2 weeks till they hit a Werner terminal in Cali(but that probably bothered his trainer more than him lol)..Always moving, the longest they waited so far for a load was 2 days.

I wouldn't hold your breathe on the "dedicated" account. I guess it could happen but in my experience it's usually the "bait and switch" deal. Usually the dedicated accounts at most carriers go to the senior drivers. This being said there is usually a waiting line for those positions. Like any other job you have to work your way to the top. Good luck to you!

Werner's dedicated accounts are not flooded with experienced drivers like others. My hubby trained on a dedicated out of Tomah, WI and stayed on that dedicated after his training.

He got a good trainer too. Heck, we're friends with his trainer!

Some of the dedicated accounts (Family Dollar for example) that Werner has aren't exactly in high demand. For one, the dedicated accounts are regional, and dont get as much mileage as a OTR or even a regional OTR. Also, there is a lot of fingerprinting involved with the dedicated accounts. Whether it is restaurant or dollar store, you lump it yourself.

There was a dedicated available when I graduated that another guy took. He says that his trainer is training him on the account, and have already said that the account is his if he wants it.

I finished my training with werner three weeks ago. Both of the trainers I had where great. I trained for about seven weeks. My first trainer lived in dallas and I live in michigan so the four and a half weeks I was with him I never went home that sucked. They offer a week of paid time off half way through your training take it to be home for seven whole days and get paid was great. Plus I needed the break.
My second trainer lived about an hour from me so whenever he was home I got to go home. I am now on my third week of solo work and I am enjoying myself. Getting good miles at least 1800 every week which I don't think is bad for being a new guy.
