Buddy, I ended up going back to my state government job of 20 plus years. I am going to take some time and think this through a little more.My brain is Swiss cheese at the moment and I just need to step back and figure this out. Regarding doing Prime for cdl and then leaving, a veteran trucker wouls have a better informed opinion, but from my "very limited" experience, if you aren't going to go all the way through, a community College or private school may be the better option. You can sleep in your own bed, depending on how close it is to you, the program is not as "rushed", maybe 8 weeks instead of 4, and then when done, you can take your pick of numerous companies ready to hire you. That was the option I wanted to do, but my community College had manual transmission trucks and I didn't want to have the added stress of trying to learn to shift if most major carriers have switched to automatics anyway. Local trucking and dump trucks etc, are still primarily manuals from what I understand, but local trucking had no interest for me. . All that said, as Chinatown posted, it looks like there are plenty of options to keep rolling if you want to go to Prime, get your cdl and then quit.
Training options after leaving PRIME TNT?

In contrast, in 3-4 weeks, I could have my CDL, plus real world experience with a trainer, one on one. If I choose to leave at that point, I would pay Prime $5,000, but most schools are comparable in price. Once I have the CDL, I could find a better company if I wasn't happy with Prime. Or, I could go O/O with my own authority, or decide this isn't for me. -
