Good morning! I know there are hundreds of schools in TX but I'm looking for one that pays well and doesn't MAKE you drive OTR initially? Any suggestions for good training school in the DFW area?

I don't have personal experience with them, but KLLM seems to be highly reviewed and has a training school in Lancaster.

If you're paying for Cdl school out of pocket or can get a company to foot the bill, I can recommend ATDS down in Elm Mott(North Waco). 210 hour program, great staff, and quality instruction. -

If your lucky enough to find someplace that
Will pay for your school, get you your CDL,
And give you a local job to start,
Then good for you.
but be careful what you wish for.
There's a reason why they had to hire a rookie
For that local job.
Because anybody with any experience and
Knowledge won't touch it for whatever reason.
It's Usually long hours, low pay, going nowhere,
Dead end job.
If you pay for your own school you can go
Wherever you want. -
FFE (Frozen Food Express) is one of the best for trucking company training and they train in Lancaster, TX.
You might luck out and have @TravR1 as a trainer there; he's in the $80K per year pay bracket and can show you how to do the same within 12 months.

Here's a good one with a terminal in Ft. Worth. Contact the company and ask which schools they hire from in your area. You might qualify for free cdl school through the Texas WIOA Program.
