Hours of service work the same...now, techcnically, if he is in the passenger seat and you are driving, you are BOTH required to be on duty...driver on line 3, passenger on line 4. When I was a trainer, I never did this, but I hear tell they are becoming more strict about it. To get around it, just have your bf sit in the bunk. It wouldnt matter what he did--train you, read, watch a movie, throw a party with disco lights and hookers--he's behind the curtain and in the sleeper, so he's on line 2...

Check the permit restrictions for your area they very by state, but I think most require that a cdl driver is up in the passenger seat when you are driving till you take the road test and get a full cdl

False. As of 02/2012 a co driver can be in the jump seat for up to 2 hours either right before, or after 8 consecutive hours of line 2.
