Hi. I just really got my cdl Class A. I found a few companies, small ones who are willing to give me a chance. But here is my situation. They are require me to train with someone for a week or two on the road. I will be doing regional or dedicated routes not OTR. My problem is I mentally and physically will not be able to sleep in a truck with someone or spend so much time with a stranger in a truck for so long. So my question is how can I find someone locally that can take me out on local routes just to learn the coarse. Is such a thing even possible? I live in Miami. Does someone know of such a service or person. ?

Try construction otherwise you'll have to go out with a trainer for whatever time the company requires.

So you want to skip training and just get the route.

And they should just turn over the truck and the cargo and leave their customers in your hands. Without ever checking to see if you can do the job. Sounds reasonable enough.

What do you mean construction? Like road work and etc? There not someone who would be able to train locally. Perhaps even a service that I can pay for and go out on a daily basis but be home every day. I believe that should give me the training I will require. I am just worried that I will not be able to sleep on a truck with someone and be a hazard of fatigue

No I do not want to skip training. I want to do training locally and be home daily during training period.

If you're going to run local, that would be the case. Are you running local or REGIONAL?

If you are running regional, how much time are you expecting to be in the sleeper? Haven't even started and the drama begins. How do you know how bad it will be? Can't be too bad if its regional. Anticipation of Death is worse than Death himself.

I really hate to see what you guys do when real difficulty happens.

OK well I will be completely honest. My biggest fear and insecurity of being with someone so close in a truck for so long is because I suffer from crohns disease. If anyone knows what it is then you will understand my reasons behind it. I just don't know how to do along with it.

    Lepton1 Thanks this.

I didn't want to be cramped for 3 weeks in a trainer's truck either. He ended up being a chill dude and we laughed a lot. I passed that obstacle then and now I don't think or care about it. In fact the whole first year is mostly unpleasant obstacles. Now its easier. Now I make more money. Now I am very glad I did it and stuck it out.
