It's a whole other thread but people get diarrhea of the mouth when it comes to telling their company about their medical and then they wonder why they don't have a job.

The only other occupation that has to give up a lot of medical info is a pilot. Pay me $200 an hour like a pilot and I'll comply, pay me like a truck driver and you get my medical card.

Put down some antibiotic that one driver out of 10 million had a bad reaction too and they'll put you on the bench for 30 days.

I can tell you know what's going on Broke Down 69 but some people go in with great intentions and leave without a job lol.

As a former TA driver, I just have to subscribe, to watch the attitude change in the coming months. Still, I hope that you can keep your good and level headed attitude, and that things work out.

Bit of advice, keep saying no to the lease, and don't get stars in your eyes when they tell you what you CAN, (operative word is can and not will) make, as a L/O.

    Good luck.

Well, the day has arrived and while I can't honestly say that I'm looking forward to the bus ride, I am looking forward to moving this process forward. Still feel like I've been used as a speed bump but I'll survive.

Do have one potential issue. My tablet is acting up again (it's been doing this the last couple of weeks) which is going to make posting rather hit and miss. The hotel has a business center which may or may not have a computer I can use, but if necessary I'm sure I can convince one of my fellow trainees to let me use their device. I can be downright charming when I have to...although that probably would be no help at the Banning scales (another good reason to stay out of cali...lol)

So away I go, following the most convoluted route you could possibly imagine to Kansas. Thanks to all for being here to watch and help this rookie down the path.

Hey BD liking this thread so far. You remind me of me. Keep it up! Attitude is everything! I am a former TA driver also truck 29012 from May 2014 to June 2015. I enjoyed my time with TA. Keep in mind its an apprenticeship of sorts. You will make a paycheck as opposed to 98 percent of the lease drivers. You will want to move on after 6-12 months. You will do many swaps that may cut into your miles and sometimes you may benefit from the swaps. As a company driver, you will need to do what they need you to do. Its ok. Remember its a foot in the door into the industry. An apprenticeship! To me, trucking has been a godsend, a salvation and a deliverance of sorts. I love what I do. The traveling, interacting with shippers/receivers, even sleeping in the truck. The TA trucks are nicely spec'd! When I was there we could only run 62, but then at a Raleigh NC KW dealer, they turned mine up to 65.

The reason TA swaps so much is to a) Insure on time delivery and b) to help you get your hometime ontime. They were pretty good at it. PM me if you need any advice. Glad to help a newbie WITH YOUR ATTITUDE. Best of luck. Gotta feeling you will make it. Just be patient.

@gntorres61 thank you very much for the information and advice. I'm always glad to have an experienced TA driver, especially one who is able to see the good side of the company, along for the trip. I'll certainly consult you by PM or post if I need any information on how to handle any cooperate issues.

Just arrived at the La Quinta in Olathe. Room is very nice so no complaints there. I do have access to a computer and internet so I'll try and post in early am and after orientation and training in the evening. Right now I'm very tired having not slept a wink in north of thirty hours so I'm going to grab a quick bite and go to bed.

Ok. Breakfast is really good. Biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, danish, bagels, yogurt, juice coffee and make it yourself waffles. Not bad at all. Beds are super comfortable. No complaints at all so far. Today is supposed to be a half day so I'll report on that this afternoon.
