    hey guys
can anyone give me any good or bad info on trans-am. a lot of what i heard of them was about their lease purchase program. i am not looking to get involved with that. i am going to be a company driver. i leave april 2nd for orientation so if anybody could help me out i would greatly appreciate it. also i was told by the recruiter that they have your application processed and complete. anybody know if that is true or not. thanks.

Can't speak for the company being good or bad, but a word of advice would be to take any information you would need to fill out an employment application, and make sure it all matches whatever you filled out the first time.

You could very well get there to find out that they have "lost" or "misplaced" your application. I have seen this happen to me, and to others at different places. You can never be "too prepared".

howdy! I've been with them for over a year and I've had good experiences with them overall. It will take about a month before things start rollin' along, but I've seen it take longer with other carriers. TransAm is not much different than other carriers on their support, there is someone there in both terminals at all times. If you are going into their training program, make sure that you understand what you're doing BEFORE leaving the trainer's truck, that does include backing. There's no layover pay unless you're stuck for 24 hours period and also there's no detention pay, period. They will keep you running hard. I've averaged 3200-3500 as a company driver for almost the entire period I was with them, LEGALLY. The pay is on time and my pay was never wrong. Any more detailed questions, let me know!

Now that's the kind of miles I like to see. If I'm out on the road I want to be driving not sitting in a truck stop.
What is there pay rate for someone with 12 years exp?

    1. Hometime is 4 days a month. Is driver company or lease??

    2. Far as TA routing around the drivers home state: It happens, but it is not done on purpose and usually, no where close to the drivers home city. In other words, don't expect it to happen. :biggrin_2557:

    3. I am not familiar with a Krogers account.

Hope this helps. What state are you in??

Holidays? Whats that? Like Lydia said, you get 4 days a month. 95% of the time, they'll get you there when you want. If he wants off on a holiday, then he'll need to factor that in on his hometime request.
As for the company caring.....their whole business model is based on turnover and that, in their opinion, drivers are a dime a dozen.
There's a whole bunch of other TA threads going on and you can find them if you use the search function.
