Just got home from an interview at this shop and all I can set is WOW. Super nice and clean, service manager is a cool down to earth guy who was a wrench before he became the boss. That's always a plus instead of getting a pencil pusher. Even the trailer shop was clean and they always seem to be nasty. I can honestly say I am impressed, not that I was expecting not to be but it was still nice. I know this thread doesn't have a real point but just wanted to share in case anyone else is looking for a job in Tampa.

i too have been to many shops, i always gauged the shop actually by "some stuff" on the floor, indicating a busy work day/week.

however, for safety sake, i too appreciated clean floors, and neat shelves.

si i would imagine they have a regular clean up guy, where some shops, the techs are the clean up guy(s)

i hope you get the job

best of luck to you, keep us informed..!!

Thanks man, they were actually pretty low on the list because of all the #####ing I hear from drivers but it was by far the nicest best equipped shop I have been to. I'm picky about cleanliness in shop, I turned down two offers from independent shops because the floors were still disgusting from a busy week about two years ago lol. The fleet looked pretty good too, all T680s five years old or newer. Some of the trailers were a lil beat but you know how that goes...every trailer is beat unless you personally own it and maintain it. They had a short bus there for orientation and I asked about that. The service manager face palmed and started laughing, they road test guys there that he said are already"experienced", he did the air quotes too lol. It funny hearing these guys always ##### about the shop and then hearing the service manager call them a bunch of steering wheel holders lol. I would have to get certs for the EPA (freon) and for fmcsa inspections and they set you up for it. I wonder if all megas are like this, it seems like you can make a hell of a lot more money wrenching than driving. The service manager and service writers were drooling over the face that I'm a welder so if I get in here I imagine I'm going to be welding a lot of trailers back together.

the most/best you can do, is accept the job at the final interview, or when that phone rings, move all your stuff into your stall, or against the wall, and start working.

as either a driver, or a wrencher, we know in short time whether we want to stay or leave.

Day shift, I told them I would work no nights if I could because Florida gets a lil warm during the day.

That came out wrong, I told them I would work nights. I would actually rather work nights but if I gotta go days I will. I work nights now in a welding shop and it is soooo much better than day shift.

yes, it did come out wrong...you wanted to work in the warmer day time...lol.....

plus night shift, most times, the "big boss" is not around, and it's easier to not have to look over your shoulder, at who's watching you!!

Got offered the job today. Pay is right, benefits are right, just gotta talk to two more places because they took the time to set up interviews and I don't want to burn anyone. They only run a day shift at this shop but I guess there is hope that they will add shifts down the road if needed, the shop is still very new. I went in to take the drug test and got to talk with some people there (drivers included) and it seems like most of the work needed is on the apus.
