    I have no clue....

But man you gotta give em props for the way they go after bodies. Puts Werner's recruiting department to shame.

Wow have the times changed. I was lucky to make 25 cent after my first year and this guy is complaining about 32. Somebody hold me back, because I'm 2 minutes away from opening up a can of whip tail on this rookie......... Sorry the post super trucker stress was flaring up. I apologize.

Ever thought about how long ago that was and the cost of living then versus now, or does that stress the supertrucker mind? I would not want to increase it more.:biggrin_25525:

.32 per mile is ridiculous for someone with one year experience.

Because Transam is a starter company.I know its really sad and discusting what companies pay but what can you do as long as they don't have problems finding drivers.Just imagine what they pay teams.Look at Werner they pay teams 32 or 35 cent split. How can one live off that. What companies pay wouldn't be bad if they paid detention right when you're in the dock, more for layover pay.If you think about it drivers are only getting paid for drive time and not onduty time.Which is unfair and a huge rip off.If we have to log all work not driving as onduty then we should get paid for all onduty time.

Dollars to donuts, there are probably experienced truck drivers earning 25 cents per mile in today's job market, (the year 2014). Honestly, no one can blame them for taking the job at 25 cents per mile. Jobs, in general, are quite difficult to find.

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

Ok I'm about to blow a gasket in here. This may be my last post on the forum before I be put in time out either temporarily or permanently. But nobody else has the Rocky mountain oysters to say it.

Hold the Sam Hill up. When I started I was make 20cpm. and The first four months I was with CRST and they were paying 11cpm which I still think they pay. 16 years later. I barely made it on that. I was running so hard it took me 15minutes when I woke up to remember where I was and how I got there. There was no talk about cost of living. That's the price you have to pay to do the job.

You mean to tell me these kido's should get 40cpm and they can't even get into a gate without taking out the whole fence. Don't let me speak of their backing skills. A job is not your baby sitter. A job is just that. It pays so much and you organize your bills around your job. You don't force your job that you chose to accommodate to your bills. If you have a hard time saying no to your materialistic fantasies. You need to find a career that can sustain your lustful desires, and stop going to the fast food industry talking about striking because you can't pay your cotton pickin bills. Take some dad gum personal responsibility <<<<<<<< Ya I know that word might be edited out. But I could keep it in any longer. It was beating like a heart after a mad dash to the toilet after eating taco bell.

Any who you can take your cost of living and put it where the sun don't shine. Pardon my French. Good day sir :)

I'll really open your eyes to how poorly drivers are paid. If you haul 40,000 lbs of meat 600 miles at $.32/mile you make $192 and are paid $.0048/lb. if you were paid $.50/mile it would rate out to $.0075/lb. obviously the consumer would suffer greatly!

When I started driving it was .25 per mile then increased to .28 after 2 weeks.

    That was in 1999.

Not in the truck for years, I got .36 per mile in 2008.

A rocket scientist degree is not needed to know that it cost more to live now versus then.

My point has nothing to do with the living standard of the applicant. It is with the fact the company is paying such a ridiculous amount to begin with.

You went off on a tangent to rant about something ridiculous.

Bring it,lol.Anyway this rookie does have a point.Everything has gone up except the drivers wages.Minimum wage will be going up except the drivers wage.Like I said, truckers pay wouldn't be bad if they got paid for every hr they work rather then just drive time. Some ppl are making no more then 300 a week before taxes because of low pay and low miles. You probably get consistant miles don't you? It's not like companies can't afford to pay drivers what they're worth if they value the drivers which most companies do not. Some companies are having a tougher time finding drivers these days because they won't settle for low pay and because their csa and mvr is tarnish to the point they're unhireable.Companies can afford hiring these staffing agencies putting their ads on websites ect ect,no reason why they can't afford to pay more and give the drivers consistant miles.
