Yes I do realize how many posts are in this thread because I have read every single one from page one. I did that back when my husband was applying to companies and we were trying to figure out if TransAm is a good company to drive for.

Initially I just asked what seemed to me to be a pretty simple question. Apparently it was a more difficult question than I could have ever imagined. It's fairly evident that you folks just want to bandy words back and forth and never really talk to anybody except for those members of your own little clicks. So having said that, I'll just say good night. Be safe.

RangeRider, I do apologize for replying to you in anger. I wasn't trying to feed you a bunch of BS.....your individual circumstances will determine if TransAm is a good fit for you. You would have to be a lease driver. If you are a family man with set expenses such as a mortgage or car payment there are times that a lease driver doesn't make a weekly check because of expenses. If you have a wife and children that you want to see frequently you will go in the hole ...the lease payments do not stop just because you have home time....you have to stay on the road longer. If your family needs health insurance you won't have it as a lease driver. It is hard for a family person, you sacrifice a lot. If you are single and intend to live on the road then the type of equipment TransAm has and how they take care of it will be important to you. That is all I was getting at with my original questions. There is no simple answer about TransAm, it is a good company for some and a living nightmare for others. They do honor their word ....it's just that they don't tell you everything that you need to know up front, they let you learn the hard way. The question about your tolerance for frustration was about the dispatchers that come and go at TransAm ....it causes a lot of stress and anger. Then there are the times that you have to switch between driving days and driving nights and the seemingly endless requests to do swaps.

Everyone here falls into the category of "really good people". They have helped many new drivers for TransAm and help one another on a daily basis. We just needed to know what you consider a good company ....not be attacked for trying to clarify that.

There are times when you get a zero check!? I really don't see how someone can get themselves in a situation like that.
I have asked some questions about this company and decided to go elsewhere because the deck is stacked against you succeeding in your effort to own the truck.
Having nice equipment doesn't really do any good if you never own it in the end.
I am not trying to get anyone upset about they're choice of companies but just the the zero pay really irks me and the reason is your payout each week is insane.
I am still looking and asking since I do want to have a check every week like you all deserve for what you have to do and put up with out here. If you are looking for a change try RTI or Freymiller, Mbruenger even has paper logs no payment for 30 days. Be safe

That's only one side of it, there are times that a lease driver makes far more than a company driver. There are too many variables to name. Many lease drivers do just fine. But if you are the sole provider and you need to know that you have X amount of dollars every week in order to feed your family you need to consider those variables before you go lease. I know of drivers that have been able to walk away owning their truck and know of one that is working on his second lease/purchase of a truck with TransAm. It all just depends on what your individual situation is.
