Yes, it is when you haul reefer. That's part of what got the King this week. Most of the time he hauls a dry box but every once in a blue moon he gets stuck with one of the reefer trailers. The hours are just different and you do a lot of switching back and forth. But it should be a busy time with good miles with TransAm. The King always called this time of year "The Carnivore Carnival", it was always busy during BBQ season.
Just a few more days and George will be home! I know you are both looking forward to it. I'm glad George is heading east, he should get beyond the bad weather coming in tomorrow.

Georgie is in Okawville Illinois at the Pilot mm41. Left Salina KS at 1pm. Arrived in Salina 3am thanks to National Beef. Was there 12 hours. When I was with Abilene, I had a backhaul from Cargill in Beardstown IL. Waited there 12 hours. At least they're consistent. Good night all.

I like that Pilot/Road Ranger. I prefer Burger King as far as fast food and if you park in the right spot, you can pick up the Burger King WiFi. Also has a Dollar General within walking distance to pick up stuff for the truck. Only two dumpy showers but get the job done.

I think the worst of the weather is supposed to hold off until late tomorrow afternoon so you should be in the clear as far as the severe stuff, Pete.
You should be well ahead of the bad weather also, George.

    Gordon, how are you doing?

I am looking for conversation starters .....Beware, if you all don't start talking I will be forced to post videos of my yard growing until you beg for mercy!:smt074

This is kind of a neat little idea -

You can just stick this portable outlet to your window to start using solar power! So far we have seen solutions that act as a solar battery backup, but none as a direct plug-in. Simple in design, the plug just attaches to any window and does its job intuitively. According to the designers, Kyuho Song & Boa Oh: “We tried to design a portable socket, so that users can use it intuitively without special training.” It's a portable socket that gets its power from the sun rather than the grid. You plug into a window instead of into the wall. It's easy. The solar panels suck energy from the sun. The charger converts that energy into electricity. You plug in to the charger. The Window Socket pulls solar power to an internal battery, which can be either used immediately or saved for use during night time hours or when you are away from the sun. After 8 hours of charging, the socket provides the user with 10 hours of electricity. Read More: http://www.whydontyoutrythis.com/20...o-your-window-to-start-using-solar-power.html

Okay HTQ I will start a conversation :) From a wannabe trucker !!!

I got a few thousand miles this week ( Flew from the Philippines back to Korea, Lol ) Can you put me on your map haha !

    Here is my conversation :

I will be coming to the USA at the end of this month ( Kokomo , Indianapolis area ) and just getting interested in trucking this year and being stuck in Korea I have not had a chance to go to any truck stops and talk to any drivers or check out their trucks.
Last week while in the Philippines I had a chance to talk with a trucker driving a 1989 Pete which was as rough as his English but it was still nice of him to share and let me take some pics. He let me sit in the drivers seat and to be honest that was the first time I was ever in a tractor. Gave me a little idea of what to expect.
So I am wondering if any people know of any good truck stops around Indianapolis , seems I heard Indy has some pretty bad truck stops. I get the news from Indiana on Yahoo and they were talking about arresting Lot Lizzards 15 yrs old and maybe a lot of dope dealings etc.....

I have been to truck stops before in my car but never even noticed the trucks that much back then. Now I thought I would like to go and watch the traffic , backing, fueling etc...

Anyone that has any idea's where to go I would appreciate it. They have a SAGE school nearby and I will check it out also.

Does TransAm run through Indianapolis much ?

Thank you, dennisroc. You have had your own map pin for awhile. (You just didn't want me to subject everyone to a video of my yard growing, did you? They owe you one!:biggrin_25525:)

The King usually tries to avoid any of the truck stops in Indianapolis, mostly because they are highly congested places that are difficult to find a parking place in .....among other things. However, as far as going there in a car just to observe and talk with drivers, that may be just the type of place to give you a real idea about OTR life. He usually stops at a truck stop on the west side of Indy ....Cloverdale?, I think. TransAm runs through Indianapolis frequently so as far as looking over a TA truck you should see several in that area at any given time.

passport, Panhandle, Pete, honeybadger ....where would the best truck stop be for dennisroc to go take a look and talk with some drivers?

^ TA Whitestown, IN - I-65, Exit 130 (SR 334). It has a sit down restaurant so you can buy a coffee, sit down and get away from the riff raff that you may find out in the lot (it is true, Indy TS are a bit dodgy). It also has a driver's lounge. Drivers who hang out in lounges often do so just because they want to sit around and talk.
