I worked for Transam trucking for almost a year. They say they pay practical miles. Not so. I drove many times and got paid for miles they said I drove, not the actual miles that I did drive. They were okay at first, then after a while, I would be sitting for days without a load, and they said I didn't qualify for layover pay. And they would not pay layover pay for the weekends. What a joke!!! I would use the qual com asking for a load, and no response. My paychecks became less and less. They said I was being paid so much a mile, and it was much less than they promised.
When I would try and call the dispatch, they would hardly ever answer the phone. There was no communicating with them. They did not care... Their lease program is also a scam. I met many guys leasing and they would go for weeks, and weeks without a paycheck. It is no wonder they quit. They couldn't make a living. And my dispatcher kept trying to get me to lease. He was beginning to sound like a broken record. Why should I pay for a truck for Transam, and be broke with no pay coming in. There were several drivers that did just that and had to quit. So Transam got their trucks paid for by the drivers, and then would get them back, and try to get others to lease the trucks... What a bunch of bull. I also hear that the "money guy" there would like to run the company without truckers!!! Now how could that be possible. He apparently doesn't like truckers. People call him a "Hatchetman". And I believe they are right. So good luck if you go the Transam route. Cause you are gonna need it.

All drivers pay for there truck. Driver or lease owner.I usually found if a company lays a driver around they have a problem with that driver and want him to quite. That way they don't have to pay unemployment.
I'm not saying that's you but it happens friend.
I know Johnny and he's always been a straight shooter. Did you ever go in and set down and talk with him? I go way back with him to National Carriers.

    Zedanny,
My mate and I teamed and we never met Johnny once.
We drove all over and even got the top gun award. Then when I got sick, and had to be hospitalized, I was let go, and so was my insurance, while I was in the hospital. So you tell me, What kind of company is Transam? Turns out I have Cancer, and they could care less. Johnny only comes to the office in the mornings and then only stays about 45 minutes. We saw this when we were there. And that was when he wasn't on one of his vacations, or cruises. When I asked him why they had done this to me over the phone, he said "Tax Reasons".... So tell me is he such a good guy??? Maybe in the past, but not now. When a company will do this to someone, they are sorry in the worst way.... I have since had to go on Cobra insurance which costs 3 times as what I was paying as an employee, or as Redwings says just a driver in the seat. Now with me not working, it is hard to come up with that kind of money. And battling cancer is not easy either. The Chemo makes you feel like you want to die. It would have been nice to still have a job and insurance that I didn't have to pay so much for, but they were ruthless!!!!!! That is a FACT. Oh yeah, they offered my job back as a trainee when I get well. Just the fact that they did what they did to me, I would never go back to work for them. My opinion is just this, Transam has people that do not care about their truckers. Otherwise, they would not have did what they did to me!!! Does this open your eyes just a bit. If not, then I could tell you more. However, I prefer not to. You figure it out.

Hey it sounds like you can sue them . Take them to court . Sorry about the Cancer.
You may be right when a company get so be the owner looses control .
If you have all your medical records and check stubs and you were off on medical leave. Sue them. I have a Grand daughter that's on cimo 5 times a week.23 year's old.

My view on Trans Am is this, they did not hire me. Therefore, they are one of the most mismanaged companies in America and you would be stupid to work for them. However, because they did not hire me I now make $18,000 per year more then I would have working with them. So, I am thankful. The recuiter I worked with there was hot. Too bad I am short fat and ugly.

Any job that gets you started down the road to this Profession is going to be hard. No one owes you anything. Work hard and dont run over anything. Oh, and if you are hauling meat for Trans Am and lets say a case of Porterhouse steaks just happens to fall of your truck, I am will to pay cash. Note to Law enforcement.....this is not an offer to commit or induce any other one to commit a crime. This is simply a test.

RUN, RUN RUN, dont wate your time with Trans AM. When I was talking with my recruter I told her I want to be a company driver she said no problem. I arrived back here in Rockwall on 3/30/09 for my testing out Thats when they started pressuring me to go lease. After 2.5 days of telling them No they then told me I would have 30 day wait for a company truck. So here sit playing their game.
I have also heard that there goal is to have 80% lease drivers that they can have pay for there trucks.

When did they start testing out in Rockwall? Did my orientation there but all testing out was done in Olathe, KS. Only time I was asked about leasing was a general question to the class. Chose not to go and still will not go since stupid is not written on my forehead and had to wait for 6 days to get my 1st truck. Getting the 2nd truck, 2 months later, was worse. Had to wait for 2 1/2 weeks that time.
