LOng posts broken up into several posts. I can emphasize with that.

I find it amazing that a company after they are told deploys a dozen chiefs to make Indian with no CDL go. Espeically apparently in writing.

Document everything. but drive nothing without a license.

    lol. Don't tempt me.

When I collected bobtails from fired truckers at May Trucking and several other sister fleets to FFE Lancaster in the Ft Worth Area, one invariable evidence remained in all of the recovered tractors. Pages and pages of free macro in the original qualcomm keyboard memory where the initial conversation with driver to dispatch starts out with a small problem. Then escalates from there.

If the company took the drivers problem whatever it may be against the prospect of losing that driver then its ok. However if the company says no due to a problem with driver then the driver will quit. And they do.

In the mid 90's I learned to present dispatch with one simple question with two paths forward to solve a problem with the truck, load or whatever. They like that. And it's solved. One way or the other. They decide. No yelling, no life history none of that. Just a simple question. Can we fix this today or not? If not? Then they are informed to find another driver today. and where would you want the truck? Or I might find a third way on my own to fix the problem and completely bypass the company. Until they find out that the original problem has been fixed and they are presented with a bill.

Sometimes story time comes out of that. That requires pages and pages in writing.

Wouldn’t be the first time I’ve heard about TransAm trying to get drivers to do the fleece purchase racket at orientation-nor will it be the last.
That should be a red flag about the company right there.

The sad part is that I’m a company driver and our trucks go faster than theirs-fully loaded, empty or bobtail(and we’re governed @ 65 mph)!!

Sounds like the O/P is a real go-getter. It's too bad he didnt come to BYOB&CBD first for his lease, I could have put him ina low milage (less than 2 million) vehicle and put him on the road to financial success.:Transportation cost

There is a funny video on you tube that someone at Trans Am recorded undercover. The boss at the trans am terminal is complaining that he has a whole lot of trucks out there in the yard he can’t find drivers for ..... then goes on for 15 solid minutes about how his existing drivers can’t do there jobs ....

Very interesting thinking there. I advise something similar but a little more open ended. State the problem , just the problem not I’ve been sitting here for .... and then , please advise ?
    No emotion.

    This is the problem.
    Please advise ?

Yes reading old drivers and dispatches back and fourth messages are very very interesting. I realized I wasn’t even half the a hole i thought I was reading a lot of the messages that ex drivers would leave. The ones I thought were really funny were the drivers that thought so much of there own self importance. The drivers that would tell dispatch what “ real runners “ they were then all there messages about all the court dates they have to make and all the child support payments they had to make then all there ol lady’s birthdays they had to make but they were “real runners” so they need to keep me fed real good. The emotion was always on the side of the drivers and very non emotional on the side of the office.

Wow, my experience with TransAm was far different. I joined them back in 2014 as a company guy. I only had six weeks experience at my previous job (got let go). I got a truck and a Texas to Florida trip off the bat and turned it like a pro. I stayed there a year and moved on. My time there was good but miles were falling off otherwise I had stayed another 6-12 months. Everybody's experience will vary. God Bless You.
