Hmmm. Let me think on this one.

Unless you have something in your past keeping you from hiring on with a better company, I'd say run like hell as far away from that idea as humanly possible.

If you do have a past, good positions are going to be difficult to find, that's just the cold hard fact. I strongly recommend that you look for a smaller company that you could settle in with. Often they will work with someone...depending on their level of need.

If you do go with Trans Am, do not, under any circumstances sign a lease.

Also, one last word of caution...beware.of the Purple Turd. If you're wondering what the hell I'm talking about, I have a rather lengthy thread on my time there. It's titled "Trans Am as seen by Broke Down69". I would post a link, but my phone won't let me...

Don't get all starry eyed at the thought of a nice shiny KW680. Once they figure out you're not going to lease they'll stick you in the oldest, most ratty piece of junk they have. APU won't work, forget Direct tv, they'll be some problem with it they'll be in no hurry to fix. You'll become very familiar with MHCs all over the country because that crap trap is going to lay down on you more than a $20 #####.

Look, I said the very same thing you're saying now, back then. Don't care.about money. Just want experience and good equipment. See how you like living in a truck for weeks on end for less than $500 a week. Hell
the only time I actually made decent money there was when I was recovering trucks...no a lot of fun, by the way. But then they changed the pay structure on that and I went right back to the poor house.

Most of those L/P or start up reefer companies are useless. And it doesn't matter what facet of trucking it is. If it's a company saying they have Christian values they are the most trash devilish companies out there!!!!!

 

Trans Am' shtick is "Truck driving is a noble profession". I agree with that wholeheartedly, but the way they do business borders on criminal in my book.

But what do I know? I just worked there.
