That's the bone of disagreement.
The reason to care is to prevent such drastic and sudden imbalances on the scale of operating costs vs what freight pays.
Otherwise, it goes further onto pathological path. For example, Carriers hiring cheap, inexperienced labor, often circumventing immigration laws. Owner operators skipping on maintenance and utilizing less reliable equipment. Well established companies going out of business...Or those, just as much damaging and unsubstantiated, euphoric moments of acquiring more capacity and making new authorities.
Maybe with transparency there would be less chaos and more stability.

I dont know why it has to be said again, all the deadbeats here whining about the broker are obviously the ones hauling cheap freight. If you dont like the broker, go get your own freight, simple as that.

As long as the law calls for transparency, it should be made available. You should not have to waive your rights to do business with somebody.
Also, I'm curious why we should detach the shipper from the broker-carrier transaction. If the shipper is not the carrier's customer, why are the carriers waiting for the broker to get paid by the shipper before they are paid? In some cases a contract might state they do not need to pay the carrier if the shipper does not pay the broker. Why is the carrier's money being held hostage? Why is the burden of offering credit laid upon the carrier?
For the most part, I agree with people saying just go out and get your own loads if you don't like brokers. But I don't agree with a lot of the rationales offered to defend brokerages and outdated or unethical practices that have become the standard. -

If you're referring to my recent posts, I never mentioned nor denied brokers ability to screw an owner operator. I hinted that it may effectively prevent it and that is a very, very different thing.
So, we are talking about potential effects that transparency might bring about. Purely, on theoretical level. There are some shreds of transparency already in place. Insinuating that those who are for transparency are hauling cheap freight is baseless. Transparency is about wanting things to be in a due order. -
I would bet many of these people also think you should get a trophy for participation.
