If you're running illegal you are the one that has to man up and quit letting them put you at risk . They don't worry about it . They have plenty of newbies to replace you when you go to jail . If you can't make money running legal you're working for the wrong company . I bet I make more in 60 hours than you do in 80 .

You should be glad you quit. They are black balling me. Worked for them for 3yrs and 1 month. They said I was one of there top drivers then you get called into the office and told that they reveiwed your file and decided to let you go. I had 1 write up in 3yrs and 1 month and that was in my 1st yr with them as a trainer.

How are you running illegal with TA? I tried once to pickup a go home load, and my FM was immediately calling me to see what was up. I made the pickup, by bullsh##ting my way through, and ended up having a backing accident! Transport America does not want you running illegal. Period, dot, end of sentence! Running illegal will get you wrote up and in front of safety. Too many write ups and you are out on your #####! And if you accept a preplan you don't have the hours for, that's on YOU. TA expects all their drivers to know how to read a map, and manage their time. These are some of the duties of PROFESSIONAL drivers. If your FM made you run illegal, you should have reported him to his boss, and to safety. Your bad. I'm out.

They left one guy sitting in DC at the delivery for 4.5 days, 90 miles from the closest truck stop, because of their mistake. They dont care about drivers, we are expendable to them.[/quote]
How do you figure it's 90 miles from DC to a truck stop? You ARE talking about that diamond shaped city between Maryland and Virgina? FYI: It's 30 miles from downtown DC north to the TA and 50 south to exit 133! Ad to tell the truth after 24 hours I'd have been sitting AT one of them until they pulled their thumb out!Last edited: Aug 12, 2009

A friend of mine had to get company approval to leave the dock for a truck stop. Otherwise, it is out of route miles. -
That was what they told me. I filed for unemployment and they said I violated company policy. When unemployment investagated them for reason of separation they said I didn't violate any company policy and I was let go for unjust causes. Now I did work in the office for a month and I found out everyone that was terminated was terminated for violating company policies. Like one for blowing their air horn at another truck that came into their lane and almost hit them. They just have excuses for everything. Ever since the company got bought out and its new CEO from Schneider its screw whomever they can to earn a buck. Its not the same company as years ago when it was a good company to work for. -

You are allowed to drive for up to 10 miles for food as long as you do not go into another town. Then you have to restart your 34hrs. Now if your in North Jackson,Oh terminal as soon as you leave the gates your in violation. And if you don't beleive me as Rick Rimbaugh or Marge Plant. -
What, is there a company out there that has "do whatever it takes, legal or not, to get the load there on time" as an official company policy? Seriously?
Dude, there's an enormous difference between 'company policy' and 'real life.' And, having run for TA before, I have no problem believing the horror stories these folks are telling.
How about being awake for two straight days and then being told to run a 550 mile load from NJ to OH, where you are to swap out and run another 330 miles(do the math)? How about sitting in Chicago and told that if you want to get home as promised, you'll run to Indy and pick up this load...and then you find out the load was nonexistent...then told that they won't pay you for the 400-some extra miles you were dispatched because there wasn't a load there? How about getting less than 2500 miles a week for most of the summer when you stay out at least three weeks at a time and don't turn down freight? How about being paid $60 to unload a packed-n-stacked trailer that a lumper wouldn't even look at for less than $300? How about being beeped at every five minutes(after a week of four-hours-per-night sleep) and screamed at to deliver a 'hot load' to a closed plant where no one's there but the gate guard?
This was 13 years ago, and I see they're still a scumbag company. I'd sooner give up driving altogether than go back there. -
I am also a former T/A driver, i did not stay long with the company because they stuck me with a trainer and the loads they stuck us on, 1 of us could of done all that in 11 hours driving with ease. The company never stuck us on any real long runs that us both could take turns driving.
