Not sticking up for companies, but have to question some of these termination stories. The only 2 big companies that I have been with are Maverick and Schneider. At orientation, they both warned about what could get you terminated. Both had similar rules. Multiple minor infractions, you would be routed to nearest terminal and let go. Bus ticket home.

The OP of this thread stated that he was on probation for a OOS, then went and didn't log a delivery. Why would a company take a risky chance that he won't do it again? If he has a accident and not logged properly, he'd get heat, but so would the company.

Granted, it sucks that they loaded him and terminated him 900 miles from home, but nobody has ever said the companies play fair.

How many of you have gone through a orientation, and seen someone sent home for failing the drug test. They come there knowing they will be tested, but I guess they just figure they won't get caught. I know one, personally, who did that, then got on the forum and bad mouthed the company with a one sided story.

I take every story on here, with multiple grains of salt.

I sincerely hope that every young trucker, (regardless of age,) takes this advice to heart. The fact is that you just never know WHAT may happen. If you live in Cali, and are stuck on the east coast, or anything similar in circumstance, you'd better have enough money to get yourself home.

You don't need to carry a lot of cash, but keep your debit/credit accounts with enough money in them to get you through a pinch.

I am advocating for a drivers union. But don't hold your breath on that. Not when most of the drivers out here have been brainwashed by billionaires like Limbaugh that joining a union is bad for their interests.Do you think the Pigman works without a contract? Nah, of course he doesn't.But he want's us to,and the bobbleheads nod all the way to the poor house.

I agree to some extent with you.Trucking has become job of last resort by many of societies misfits.I mean, look at some of these people.I rarely tell people I'm a trucker anymore.
The last thing I want people thinking is that I'm some morbidly obese, foul smelling, barely literate, racist republican/tea bag type with bad teeth.I know that isn't a fair description of all drivers. It sure seems that way though somedays. Especially down south.Time to re-fill the gene pool.

Here's some advise. No more wearing sweatpants to work.Save the sweatpants for a 30 minute walk everynight. That will help you loose weight. Most of you could use the excercise.Get a few pairs of Dickies work pants, preferably blue. A pair of polished boots also helps you avid looking like a slob as well.On that note, let's talk about personal hygiene. Most of us are on it.However, there is always a few lazy recalistrant types that shun a bar of soap.To them I say, we don't want to smell your funk.

If you weigh 400 pounds and sweat cottage cheese, you are going to stink. While that may be fine in the confines of your truck.Unfortunately, when you're standing in the fuel line,or say at a restauraunt, you are making other people puke in their mouths and it's not fair to them.Wash your nasty behind.

Also , when you go into a customer, remember, that's a day you'll be coming into contact with other people,so that's a shower day.Stand a little closer to that razor too,and make sure to get the neck.

I hope these tips were helpful to those that need them, and we all know who they are.If you don't know who it is,it's probably you.To everyone else, a little review doesn't hurt once in a while.

Also, don't tell me how my post was rude to morbidly obese people.I don't care. How may times do I have to choke on someone's funk?Isn't that a tad rude? Save the pc. stuff for someone else.If you stuff 4 bags of coookies down your throat a day, and don't excercise, you are going to get fat.If you get fat and don't bathe, you stink more than a thin person.Since you stink more, your funk offends more.

If your morbidly obese and bathe every day, and dont wear sweats and open toes shoes, than this post isn't directed at you. It's directed at your chunky brethren who I think are bringing down the industry by looking like slobs.Slobs don't look like professionals, and don't get treated like one.

About the OP,I can't help but wonder why someone with 12 years experience would be driving for a dirtbag training outfit like Transport America in the first place.
If you have a decent DAC you shouldn't have any problem getting hired on with a reputable outfit.

I also have recovered trucks from various companies, all over the country.

If the condition of the truck was any indication, most of those drivers deserved to be dumped-Wherever !!!!!!!

Sorry to sound harsh, but that was the truth........
I'd go into detail, but not so soon after eating breakfast !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes you have to. All we see here is one side of the story. Somethings is Obvious bunch of BS. Some are true, but of the OP's would have done things little different it would been a different story.

Every Company can be said to be a BAD Company, and again all can be said to be a Good Company. Yes even Swift and CR England could be listed as a Good Company. It all depends on how we the Driver handle ourselves and how we follow instructions, and rules. If we are not followers of either, and do not handle ourselves well, we will have problems, and not have a good time at much of anything.

Every time I had a bad experience I looked back and over view the events that lead to the problems. What did I do wrong? Was it all them? How could I prevented it? How can I change it? 95% of the time I seen where I could have done things differently and been better off.

With my last Company I was leased onto, Yeah I could have came on here and complain, say they are a bad company, but are they? Not really, it just did not work for me. Whining about it not going to change anything.

When looking at a company and talking to the Recruiters, questions need to be asked then, and find out if the company going to be the right one for you. Then find some of the Drivers and ask them how they are treated, and their Opinion of the Company. Are they making money or not. their miles averages. How hard do they have to run, such as they have to bend the rules or play it legal and still have time to play with. among many other questions.

    Well my 2 cents worth..

Its funny but I've noticed that those that fit that category so well are usually not Republicans. They come from a different party. Maybe even from the party you associate with.

On the other hand ignorance knows no limits, no boundaries and no party lines.
Those that think their party is 100% right while the other side is 100% wrong are themselves 100% wrong and 100% part of the problems facing our country.

    I didn't read every post here...But, there's a solution.

DOT law says that the company that terminates you MUST provide you with a ride hom.

I don't give two $%^&s what your dispatcher says. Tell them the following.

"Hey, I just spoke with a local DOT officer and they said you have to get me a bus ticket". If that doesn't do it and they call your bluff.

Then call DOT office. It's the law.

trust me, I was a recruiter for three years. I helped many a Joe get back home. Keep a DOT number in your wallet and learn the regs. Knowing the regs is your power.
