This came up in another thread, but I was talking with a Transport America diver today and he said that they have started installing cameras that also have an inside cab lens in their trucks. So far it is just a "trial", but he thinks that it will go company wide at some point. They told one driver who has one that they wouldn't be looking at the inside camera unless the "hard breaking" or "going fast in a curve" sensor went off. (Yes, they evidently also have sensors in the truck and connected to the Qualcomm which go off if sudden maneuvers happen), but when he put a piece of tape over the inside lens they quickly told him to remove it, even though he had not activated the sensors. I would not ever work for them with that kind of stuff in play.

Thats a real shame. I really enjoyed my time there. The hard breaking thing was there then but I never had a phone call from safety though we were warned about it in orientation. I had what I thought would have a been one hard brake but didnt trigger the sensor. Maybe the camera thing wont catch on.

Besides all there safety crap there is literally no miles there either. It was my worst trucking job to date.
-
When did you work there? I was there from 2007-2009 so things could have changed. I really enjoyed my time there.

Transport America was way better when James aronson the founder when he was alive running the co..I worked for them when he was alive and right after he passed...it was like night and day....never has recovered.

I worked there Jan thru Aug 2014.

Bummer. I was out of the ATL Terminal and always got greats loads leaving and never missed my hometime in 2 years. I didnt like some of the overnight FedEx loads though. I seemed to get more than the other guys. Maybe I should have complained a little more hehe

Ya i never missed Home time but I stayed on them about it. The miles where just terrible. If I got 2000 a week i was lucky. From what i understood they were having a hard time competing with the big boys in there market so they take a lot of crap. I avoided fedex like the plague.

They along with 25+ other companies are owned by TRANSFORCE out of Quebec Canada and likely the cameras are going to be company wide

Abilene Motor Express has the same cam system in their trucks. It's all of them tho.
