thanks for the insult Pahrump. I have insurance and all proper docs. I thought this forum was for truckers to help each other out.

If you really do have your own authority you should have known the answer to your original question and you definitely should know what IRP is. You said you have had your own authority for 2 years and been driving for 2 years????? How did you handle that without experience and getting someone to insure you? Just doesn't add up.

In have been moving cars in the North East for 2 years. I have a spotless record with a DOT rating of 1. I employ an agency that handles all my IFTA returns and insurance requirements. Been too busy driving to look into it. Found a real nice 5 pack out in Cali and in the process of closing the deal. My questions was not whether or not I can drive the truck back across the country, the question was can I haul cars back with a temp registration to offset my trip costs.

You can also look in the owner operator section for various scenarios buying a truck & getting it home. But yeah, you will need the states you are traveling through on your IRP or pay for temp permit, insurance covering you in those states & company name/numbers required by your home state displayed. -
Thank you very much LBZ. This is precisely the answer I was looking for.

You are welcome, but forgot to add that you will need your IFTA stickers/copy of license paper with you in the truck.

Thanks again for all your helpful replies.
