I'm picking up a load of bees next week and I will greatly appreciate some advice. And how much should a load of bees pay per mile? Thanks

If they fly around they pay less than if they are resting. Maybee $2 a mile.

If you have to stand on the dock and count, I would charge a little bit more. :biggrin_255:

Keep them doors shut! Set the reefer on 45.

Yeah. Go ahead and do that and see how happy the customer is when you show up with a load of dead bees.

You will probably load late night or early morning. Plan you stops to minimize daytime stops. Not longer that to fuel and grab something quick to eat. Carry out for sure. Depending on your schedule- if you are ahead of schedule you dont roll until they wake up and stop after sundown. Water them down good if you have a chance. I always carry a water hos efor them this time of year. I also take a flat sprinkler hose with the holes facing down and run it right down the middle on top of the hives. Hook it up and let it run while you fuel or whenever you cant get water. Really limit your daylight stops. For securment I have some long 4 inch webbing and 4 4inch hand rachets too run front to back straps as well as side to side straps alwys use v-boards too.I have never hauled for less than $2.50 a mile and I charge point to point not this bs short miles everybody wants to pay. Right now with fuel high you really should be shooting for $3.00 a mile. Good luck. I like hauling them. DOT dont mess with you too much either.

When I hauled them, the shipper loaded, tarped and strapped. And you do need to water them down in the sun. Can be a pita finding hoses.
