I don’t think drivers have a problem spending a decent amount of money on a good meal but that’s the problem they now don’t serve anywhere near what you pay for any more of the quantity and the quality is garbage and then they sit there and scratch their heads and can’t figure out why they’re losing money... this isn’t rocket science but evidently they can’t figure it out

Dinner in a garage.
But the problem was there wasn’t really anything memorable on the menu. The same old stuff you can get in any old chain place. Didn’t seem to draw a crowd either, like say “oh I’d watch Daytona here!” But that’s because there weren’t any near me.bthomann Thanks this. -

Part of the problem with truck stop restaurants is the managers think that they should be making a ton of profit off of the lunch rush like normal restaurants do. But in the trucking business you're going to make most of your money off of the dinner rush, and perhaps breakfast as well. We don't have time to stop for a sit-down meal in the middle of the workday, but I'll be happy to sit down for breakfast and again for dinner.Blue jeans, Deere hunter, Gearjammin' Penguin and 2 others Thank this. -
The way truck stops all fill up by early evening these days doesn't help either. Too many trucks for the available parking. Even if a lot of the drivers parked there did come into the restaurant to eat, by 8 pm or so most of the ones that are eating will have done so. And with the lot being full there isn't likely to be many more coming in except maybe 4 wheelers and locals. Not really any point in staying open all night like they used to if they are not getting enough business to make it pay.
